Emeritus at Sugar Land Our assisted living community offers three senior apartment styles: a 389-square-foot two-room suite with a living room, kitchenette with a sink and refrigerator and a bedroom; a 337-square-foot alcove and a smaller 235-square-foot studio. All senior apartments include a private handicapped-accessible bathroom with seated showers and grab bars; closets; built-in bookshelves and cabinet; all utilities, including basic cable; and 24-hour emergency call services. Several common areas are located throughout our one-story senior livingcommunity, including a lovely foyer area with the largest aviary in Sugar Land – home to 15 beautiful birds that residents love to watch. Right off our dining room is a fully enclosed outdoor courtyard area with a covered walkway that connects one side of our community to the other. We also have an activities room with vending machines and full kitchen, two separate television rooms – one in the parlor and another in our sunroom, which opens onto the courtyard. Our dining room, which is equipped with a piano, does double duty as a chapel on Sundays! Memory Care is its own community with both private suites and Friendship Suites. Often, families choose to have their loved one share accommodations, not just for the cost-savings, but for the companionship. The ability for people with Alzheimer’s to care for others tend to decline. But when two people share a suite, it creates a good dependency, in which they tend to watch out for each other. Memory care also has its own dining room set up much like a homey old-fashioned country kitchen with a separate TV area. The dining room is also used for all kinds of activities. Residents are also welcome to use the full kitchen in the main dining room, with supervision, of course. In additions, residents have full access to their own private secured courtyard with planted walkways, patio, gazebo and a garden area with raised beds for them to tend flowers and vegetables. A memory care library is also available for family members.
